Cooking is more than just a science, but with so many different herbs and spices from all over the world, it can be easier to stick to favourite ingredients rather than experimenting. At Bart, we want to enable cooks to truly understand the flavours concealed in their spice racks and so we got together some of the UK’s best flavour experts to develop the Bart Periodic Table of Herbs and Spices.

It is easy to use, with each column signifying the flavour characteristics of the herbs and spices with the intensity of each being shown as you move from top to bottom. Within each box, you’ll be able to spot the chemical similarities of the herbs & spices and the type of cuisine its best suited to. Use these keys to guide you in your adventures with herbs & spices!
